ABSTRACT

Under high-temperature and high-pressure conditions, often denoted as hydrothermal conditions, water exhibits many special properties. At different states, the changes of water properties will lead to different reaction products according to different reaction pathways and mechanisms. In this chapter, some properties of water under hydrothermal conditions, including ion product, density, dielectric constant, and hydrogen bonding, are introduced. Additionally, based on the definition of these property parameters, some special reactions under hydrothermal conditions and their research process are discussed to further illuminate the application of water under high-temperature and high-pressure conditions.
