ABSTRACT

Extensive techniques have been developed to produce hydrogen from water by photochemical, electrochemical, or thermochemical routes. One of the perspective methods of hydrogen generation is from water by means of metals or alloys. Besides iron, the appropriate material for this goal include Al, Zn, Mg, B, and so on, which possess properties such as high efficiency, availability, and environmental safety. The aim of this review is to introduce the approaches and strategies of hydrogen production with other metals (Al, Zn, Mg, and B) under mild hydrothermal conditions, which will be beneficial for the hydrogen production from water in practical considerations.
