ABSTRACT

Relational conflict in the histrionic couple remains one of the most common presentations in couple therapy. This chapter: (1) overviews theory and research as well as a dynamic and systemic view of this couple type; (2) reviews DSM-5 criteria of both disorders; (3) provides case conceptualization of each partner and the couple; (4) provides an illustrative case example; and (5) concludes with therapy recommendations for working with this couple.
