ABSTRACT

On a cold and frosty morning in early February 2016 I called my friend Dr Andrew Moran at the London Metropolitan University. “Shifting Global Power” is the course Andrew runs and it includes aspects of international relations, peace and conflict, and diplomacy. I told him about the story I had created for the beginning of this book and asked whether he thought that his students would be interested in reading it and answering a few questions I had devised that we could debate. I hoped the answer would be yes. A couple of years earlier we had created a workshop together that allowed his students to play out the conflicting agendas of business, NGOs and government. It had been a resounding success and provided some fantastic insights into the way young people view the world.
