ABSTRACT

Attaining a higher quality level in the teaching of one subject with a year or two of professional development is most likely to be accomplished by teachers who already are good at their jobs and have solid foundations upon which to build. It is more efficient for principals and superintendents to invest their professional development dollars first in a comprehensive program for the best teachers at each school when aiming for greatness is the goal. Many of those teachers then become the leaders of demonstration lessons and professional development at their schools or for their school districts.
