ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a quality enhancement model for quality Design, Evaluation, Justification, and Integration (DEJI) based on a product development application. The model is relevant for research efforts in quality engineering and technology applications and other systems engineering applications. The DEJI model of systems engineering provides one additional option for systems engineering development applications. The core stages of the DEJI model are: design, evaluation, justification and integration. This model encourages the practice of building quality into a product right from the beginning so that the product integration stage can be more successful. Productivity is an essential factor in the pursuit of quality as it relates to the throughput of a production system. Several aspects of quality must undergo rigorous research along the realms of both quantitative and qualitative characteristics. Evaluation can use a variety of metrics both qualitative and quantitative, depending on the organization’s needs.
