ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses an account of experiences gained whilst progressing implementation. South Kent College is using the Investors in People standards to support their quest for continuous improvement. The college quality assurance policy stated: 'South Kent College aims to provide for its students, customers and the community, excellent education, training and services. Continuous improvement will become a permanent feature'. The projected action plan and accompanying letter of commitment to Kent TEC resulted in an in-house commitment launch in the presence of Kent TEC's chief executive and college's senior management. Quality management development within educational institutions is challenging traditional structures and methods. The Investors in People standard appeals and is totally compatible with the ethos of education. In recognition of the good practice that was established, and the changing curricular needs, a full cross-college department known as Staff and Curriculum Development was created.
