ABSTRACT
This chapter points out the significance of understanding social transitions and the domestic situation in China, which will enable us to further comprehend China’s diplomacy in the coming chapters of Part II. On one hand, China’s political development falls behind the very fast economic growth. In long run, political democratization will be the bottleneck to China’s future growing. On the other hand, social progress will win China good international image. Overall, China’s social transition is full of prospects and challenges.
