ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the prospects and the challenges that management education institutions in Africa face in integrating the United Nations Global Compact and the Principles of Responsible Management Education standards on method, research and partnership. The chapter argues that while challenges exist in the implementation of these principles in African management education, solutions and opportunities are also increasingly evident. The chapter explores these challenges, solutions and opportunities as they play out across Africa’s management education institutions in their teaching and research activities within a global economy, and at the same time defining their relevance to local conditions characterized by systemic poverty and the prevalence of informal markets.
