ABSTRACT

Sustainability skills and awareness of responsible management practices are gradually becoming a priority in managerial appointments as business strives to adhere to human rights legislation, environmental standards and labour laws, as well as to promote sustainability goals of the organization. In recent decades, expansion of markets, liberalization of trade, globalization and advancement of technology have greatly extended the reach and impact of businesses globally. Many corporations have been forging new enterprises, creating new products, and entering new markets, resulting in the rise of business as an economic, political, environmental and cultural force that significantly shapes the world in which we live. While some people perceive the ascendancy of business in societies around the world as a positive force, bringing goods and services, technology, jobs and opportunities, others view corporations as the protagonists in exploiting workers, corrupting cultural values, violating human rights, and damaging the natural environment.
