ABSTRACT

The book aims to describe what a good education is and does so by proposing a model drawn from reflections on independent school practice, and which has the child at its heart. This model is derived from over twenty years of experience as an educational practitioner. It draws together insights from current practice, shared professional knowledge and educational literature. It also draws on personal experience as a state school pupil, church school parent and governor, and independent school teacher and leader. The model and its elements are relevant in all educational contexts. The shape of the four-dimensional model is introduced.
