ABSTRACT

In this country there is the linguistic convention of calling Indians Indian, Pakistanis Pakistani, and now Bangladeshis Bangladeshi. Into this fairly definite categorisation has now entered the Kenyan and Ugandan Asian. I still find these last descriptions odd. It is as if, like the Americans in the United States, a people from a large corner of Asia had decided willy nilly to appropriate for themselves all of that vast Asian continent when they were landed on another, Africa.
