ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book addresses individual, relational, and systemic engagement as it relates to sexual function/dysfunction. It assumes that sex therapy supervisors may draw upon supervision techniques from their respective fields and be able to effectively manage supervisees. The book aims to educate and bring awareness to some of the issues that sex therapists face as supervisors or supervisees. It focuses on critical for anyone who seeks to become a sex therapy supervisor, not only because of the breadth and depth of clinical knowledge and experience shared by truly renowned and recognized experts in the field, but also because it underscores the crucial role that supervision plays in the development of competent clinicians. The book seeks to gain a robust understanding of how to skillfully manage supervisees and learn more about the sex therapy supervision process.
