ABSTRACT

The storyteller had served to inspire, advocate, share knowledge for the common good, shine light on the shadows of village life, explore mystery and prepare in a healthy way for any impending threat, change or future apocalypse. Instead, the Vikings chose to superimpose their own cultural story on the lands where they lived, recreating the colony and its stories as a mirror of their Norse heritage. Telling old storylines in new ways often challenges the story of the status quo. Don't be afraid to tell the untold or untellable stories. The sustainability story is a big story, a canopy of many stories that trickles down into our own individual storylines and personal mythology. With growing populations of people self-selecting into story silos there is growing concern that despite all of 'the facts' and the urgency to change, there is a failure of the greater sustainability story.
