ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in this book. The book considers networks of green champions, 'engagement' which focuses on employees' personal lives instead of their day job and endless supplier questionnaires. At best, this is done because that's what other sustainability practitioners do; at worst, it is deliberately avoiding the elephant in the room. One key benefit of the 80/20 Rule is that by forcing to concentrate on the 80 percent of impacts rather than the trivial 20 percent, tackle sustainability elephants head on, avoiding 'greenwash' if nothing else. Too many sustainability efforts deliberately try to catch every issue in a big net, confusing and intimidating colleague, and ultimately leading to overwhelm. The 80/20 approach can help with other causes of organizational paralysis.
