ABSTRACT

The first G4 booklet, Reporting Principles and Standard Disclosures, now comes in to play. There are two types of principles which should form a basis for the reporting: Principles for Defining Report Content and Principles for Defining Report Quality. G4-10 includes detail about the company's workforce in some detail: report the total number of employees by employment contract and gender; report the total workforce by region and gender; and so on. For smaller companies, the supply chain might be quite a simple affair, while for global operations, it may be horrendously complex. By allowing flexibility within this disclosure requirement, G4 invites companies to deliver the best representation they can at any point in time. It also provides an opportunity for companies to apply the materiality concept to the supply chain. The most significant changes to the General Standard Disclosures are the ones relating to materiality process and definition of material aspects and boundaries.
