Human resources HUMAN RESOURCES (HR) MANAGEMENT encompasses attracting, recruiting, hiring, training, developing, retaining, appraising and rewarding (or disciplining) employees. An HR department may also be

responsible for negotiating with labor unions, health and safety, ensuring compliance with labor laws, and stewardship of the company culture. The measurements used by HR include employee turnover, compensation, productivity, grievances and employee satisfaction and diversity.94
