ABSTRACT

In 1992 the UN Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) signalled a major turning point in environmental issues. It was at UNCED that environmental issues entered the mainstream. Also known as the Earth Summit, the UNCED serves as a critical marker, a pivotal point in history that divided those events before and after so that one can refer to events and issues before and after

UNCED. UNCED produced several key documents, including the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development and Agenda 21, a plan of action for organisations of all sizes.
