ABSTRACT

The saying goes, ‘Money can’t buy happiness’. Ultimately this statement drives towards the question of how much a person needs to live, when ‘enough’ is truly ‘enough’. And the answer is often by far less than is generally assumed. When we told friends and acquaintances about our travels after our return, we often heard the reaction:

That’s all very interesting – but for me it wouldn’t work. At the end of the day I have to live on something, pay for my apartment and my car. In order to get involved and make positive change I’d have to earn enough. In the end, it seems the whole thing is only for rich people.
