ABSTRACT

The GlobeScan chief executive officers (CEOs) Survey suggests coalitions want to play an expanded role and are confident that they do so. According to the survey, CEOs of the coalitions expect that there will be increased staff numbers, budget and corporate membership in the future. Organizations like mine will play an important role as transmission agents to disseminate leadership concepts and practices across a broader array of companies as markets evolve to reflect sustainability criteria and practices. Sustainability and corporate responsibility are considered more and more important for the competitiveness of a company. The coalition leaders talk about their greater focus: "More focus in subjects, more selective in membership, looking for impact." Coalitions' survey respondents also suggest that a stronger business case means they can be more effective: "Because companies are becoming more aware of the positive impact of social and environmental behaviors on their overall strategy."
