ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a case study on user integration that aims at discussing the hypotheses. It also presents the research design and methodology of the case study. The chapter discusses the strengths and weaknesses of case study research and argues that the case for a combination with elements of action research. It describes how quality criteria for case studies in the research process. The chapter provides the empirical framework that will be based on direct observation and semi-structured interviews. It illustrates the procedures of data collection and analysis. The strengths of interviews are that they allow a targeted search for information because they focus directly on the case study topic, and they are insightful since they provide perceived inferences. Interviews were carried out before and after the boundary-spanning process. The organisational learning results are studied by means of interviews before and after the boundary-spanning process.
