ABSTRACT

This chapter looks at inspiration and the reality of organisational circumstances and how to be present to both of them at all times. It discusses the sources of inspiration in organisations, their natural emergence and active management. The chapter describes how the Holistic Development Model helps all members of the organisation to take responsibility and presents a comment from organisation studies scholars. Values statements can be treated with cynicism or even contempt if they are seen to be another way of getting more out of employees. Many organisations for social change have been created out of an individual's response to reality such as Amnesty, Red Cross and the Samaritans. Working with the model helps open up opportunities for everyone to take charge of meaning. The model helps the people see how meaning is created in the constructive way in which the chapter work with inspiration grounded within the reality of people and the people circumstances.
