ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the authors details the process of creative destruction occurring through what they are calling sustainable enterprise economy change, because entrepreneurs are building new types of enterprises, some based on the emerging 'cloud' of web-connectivity, others based on a multiple-bottom-line set of purposes from their inception. They witness the intersection of multiple affective local communities in and near our homes, in our public spaces and in private places. The authors explores the ethos of what some call the 'cloud'—the interlinked web of computers with no particular location but which feels local. They participate in a cloud of information resources and connectivity. The authors explore new forms of business enterprise that are emerging and that are explicitly designed with a multiple-bottom-line imperative at their core. They believe the term best captures the depth and complexity of the changes in the business-operating model that are needed.
