ABSTRACT

In 2008, the Cambridge Programme for Sustainability Leadership (CPSL) embarked on an ambitious project: to identify the most influential books on sustainability, to interview as many of the authors as possible and to distil their insights into an accessible digest. We knew from our work with senior executives how important the ideas of great writers had been to many of them, and how new sources of data and ways of framing the world had informed the language and practice of sustainability to the present day. This book, which follows the publication of Landmarks for Sustainability earlier this year,* is the result – a collection of some the world’s best analyses of the global social, environmental and ethical challenges we face and the creative solutions needed to tackle them.
