ABSTRACT

Different from green marketing, social marketing is the practice of applying marketing tools and techniques to “sell” a socially desirable behavior, rather than a product. Cause marketing is typically a partnership between a company and a nonprofit organization to sell products or services that are linked with a social cause. Social venture capital differs from traditional or cleantech venture capital in its fundamental model. Besides socially responsible investing, there are several other ways sustainability intersects with the banking, insurance, and finance industries. These include: Issues in products, Project finance, Lending practices, Commodities trading , Community development banking and Operations. Community development is not a new field, and there are many opportunities for dedicated, socially oriented MBAs, especially in the realm of finance. Microfinance is the practice of providing banking services to poor and otherwise unbanked customers in developing countries (or, occasionally, disadvantaged populations in the developed world), and is one of the great development success stories of recent years.
