ABSTRACT

The Profitable environmental management (PREMA) approach involves the use of short training modules with support for the implementation process after the training through consultancy and moderated 'network meetings'. In consequence, the publication of 'success stories' would result in a huge demand for the services of sustainable business consultants and a widespread application of best economic, environmental, social and organisational practices. The integrated PREMA consultancy and training approach was developed over a ten-year period by the German Agency for Technical Cooperation through its Pilot Programme for the Promotion of Environmental Management in the Private Sector of Developing Countries. The key to effective change lies in the organisational development aspect of the consultancy offer. With the new systemic perspective of the cycle of change, external PREMA consultancy supports a networking process among companies that participate in PREMA group-training, which fosters the implementation process.
