ABSTRACT

World Economic Forum The World Economic Forum (WEF) was first conceived in January 1971 when a group of European business leaders met in Davos, Switzerland, under the patronage of the European Commission and European industrial associations. The meeting was chaired by Klaus Schwab, then Professor of Business Policy at the University of Geneva, who established the group as the European Management Forum (EMF), and renamed it the World Economic Forum in 1987.
