ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the development of a questionnaire for measuring social capital in a stakeholder network. The structural dimension of social capital deals with who is communicating with whom and how much communication is going on in each link. One of the benefits of measuring social capital in inter-organizational relationships is that the findings can be compared with those from other countries and other time periods. The Stakeholder 360 can be used as a prelude to facilitated dialogue. Usually, managers and the stakeholder "partners" both complete questionnaires about their relationships with each other. The main section of the Stakeholder 360 questionnaire establishes rapport with the interviewee. The bilateral section of the questionnaire asks about the relationship between the interviewee's organization and the other organization. The multilateral section asks about the relationships among the interviewee's organization and all the other organizations the interviewee deems to be stakeholders as well.
