ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a case study for the expansion and consolidation of the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) in the Ivey Business School at Western University. It provides an overview of the challenge(s) faced in relation to mainstreaming responsible management, an explanation of the actions taken in relation to the challenge(s), information about the results and benefits of the actions taken, and some points regarding the role of PRME/sustainability principles to carry out the activity. The Ivey Business School at Western University initiated the 39 Country Initiative in 2010. The 39 Country Initiative looks to assist poverty-reduction efforts by improving the quality of business education in the world’s 39 least developed countries, of which 32 are in Africa. The 39 Country Initiative addresses three critical challenges: the lack of current teaching material, the insufficient quantity of books and other reference materials available, and the limited numbers and qualifications of faculty at business schools in the target countries.
