ABSTRACT

Throughout this research author has been trying to make links between the nature of the industry, the sort of people that work in it and current trends in the sector in order to make sense of and interpret the results. Managers often focus on the structural and systemic aspects of an organisation while ignoring the underlying irrational and covert dynamics that impact interpersonal relations. The results are often low workplace morale, declining productivity and high costs of recruitment, development and retention. Human performance improvement and organisational effectiveness are the ultimate responsibility of organisational leaders. Teamwork cohesiveness appeared strongly related with team members' attitudes towards the organisation. Cohesiveness between team members was positively associated with core value and negatively with merit and performance. Business success mandates the use of these high-performance work teams throughout our organisations. Effectively managed organisations will have restructured their organisational charts.
