ABSTRACT
I look back and it just amazes me how long it’s taken me to see what seems
to be obvious to me now. Seeing with the kind of clarity that I had when
working on my book,198 I thought when I started the process that I could say
what I wanted to say because it was relatively simple. In the end I did sort of
say it, but in the process I just had to look, and understand what I was look-
ing at in a different way, in order to articulate it in a reasonably lengthy form.
So the process of seeing, in and of itself, is a real challenge — and a challenge
to all of us. It’s very hard. It’s easy to look in retrospect and see what the chal-
