ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a detailed list of the characteristics of innovation. It deals with the business projects in a concrete manner and presents general categorisations for the two higher-level (leap) projects: knowledge of sustainability (KoS) and sustainability of knowledge (SoK). The chapter details the typical qualities of the organisations that participated in the different projects. As regards the nature of innovations, the business projects all varied in nature and the innovations themselves were at different stages of development and execution. The type of innovation has a bearing on the distinction between product, service or something else. Service innovations form a majority for both KoS and SoK. The fact that in the case of SoK there are more organisation innovations shows that this leap project is successful from a goal perspective. The chapter shows that in the division of the innovation's creation, implementation and evaluation phases, there is no difference between KoS and SoK.
