ABSTRACT

It seems that, overnight, companies are addressing and pursuing sustainability and sustainable development. Is this really new for businesses? In many cases, the principles of sustainability are in fact radically shifting how companies think about future business success. At Hewlett Packard, however, although the focus on sustainability at a corporate strategy level is relatively new, in many ways the concept of sustainability is not. Rather, it is the logical extension of a long history of corporate citizenship deeply ingrained within the company’s culture and values.
