ABSTRACT

The ideas presented here reflect the experience that EPEA Internationale Umweltforschung GmbH, Hamburg, Germany, and McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry, LLC, Charlottesville, Virginia, USA, acquired during the past years in the environmental redesign of products and services at numerous different companies, including Ford Motor Company Inc., Nike Inc., Herrman Miller Inc. and Rohner Textil AG1 (see also Chapter 15). The eight theses to be discussed here are most indebted to our involvement in developing the furniture textiles Climatex® Lifecycle™ and Climatex® LifeguardFR™ at Rohner Textil AG. The eight theses are:
