ABSTRACT

Experiential learning activities, especially those incorporating the offering of services, are important for educators trying to impart a meaningful understanding of environmental sustainability and conservation issues. The World Resources Institute (WRI) programme, branded the Environmental Enterprise Corps (EEC), gives business students the opportunity to gain an understanding of the importance and profitability of environmental business and helps entrepreneurs develop the tools they need to succeed and attract investment. The EEC provides pro bono mentoring by MBA student teams to help the entrepreneurs improve the business plans or strategies to attract investors or increase sales. MBA students can provide these services, and, because the enterprises are relatively small, they have the opportunity to significantly contribute to the growth of the companies. EEC, however, focuses on small and medium-sized enterprises. Each participating business school has integrated EEC projects into the curriculum in a different area.
