ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the authors provide solutions for the most common challenges likely to be encountered as educators help people understand and implement sustainable business practices. They include number of our learning exercises in the companion. The authors present the challenges of each, provide solutions, and then offer training resources and activities that can be used to help overcome the challenges. In defining sustainability, they use the 'three Es': economy, environment and equity. The authors talk about how these are often traded off in our society instead of being collectively optimised. They treat the elements as if the authors were independent; they blind to the interconnections—air pollution from cars contributes to asthma and other lung problems, which makes people sick so they are not at work but instead driving up business healthcare costs, thus hurting the economy. Teaching sustainability involves more than just taking workshops. If educators want learning to translate into action, then they must look outside the classroom.
