Planergy brought project expertise as well as human and financial resources that Chevron was, correctly, unwilling to commit internally. In addition, ABB Energy Capital offered an innovative project financing arrangement, available because of its specialisation in energy-efficiency projects. It was better able to characterise the technical and financial risks and hence offered financing on longer terms than Chevron or its primary lenders would normally be willing to shoulder.
