ABSTRACT

This chapter presents pragmatic model to a larger audience of academics and practitioners. It analyses and evaluates the development of our model from both a methodological and practical point of view. The chapter shares with readers the major conclusions derived from one of our most successful training programmes: a year-long executive programme entitled 'Post-Diploma Studies in Environmentally Friendly Restructuring of Heavy Industries' (PDS). As opposed to them self team-teaching colleagues from the College of Natural Resources and Humphrey Institute at University of Minnesota, our teams are multinational-including Americans and Central and West Europeans. The foundation for the team-based approach to PDS was developed in several stages over the last decade. It began with the establishment of collaborative research relationships that analysed opportunities for and threats to sustainable development. The PDS programme was designed to have a positive impact on the state of the environment in the eEE region.
