ABSTRACT

This chapter examines what it means for an organisation, and teams within an organisation, to be committed to improving its environmental performance and what are the implications for team performance. It examines and defines the concept of environmental commitment. The chapter links the concept of environmental commitment to teams. It draws conclusions and directions for future research. It defines corporate environmental commitment as being: The process by which the corporation and its individual members embrace a concern for the natural environment in such a way that it becomes an intergral component of the corporation's core values. The chapter argues that the underlying dimension of commitment will affect the ability of the group and firm to achieve these outcomes in the longer term. It discusses that neither business practice nor academic literature has examined the underlying components or dimensions of corporate environmental commitment, from which the sort of organisational activities and behaviours.
