ABSTRACT

The European Green Purchasing Network focuses on purchasers' roles in implementing greener production and consumption policies. Purchasers are broadly defined as individuals having responsibilities as purchasing officers, marketing managers, or staff otherwise responsible for purchasing decisions, public or private. The European Green Purchasing Network aims to support purchasers in their specialised tasks relating to the organisation and implementation of green purchasing; and to facilitate a professional information exchange network on green purchasing across national boundaries and business sectors. Drawing together private and public enterprises, the European Green Purchasing Network allows capacity-building and transfer of expertise in two main dimensions: Horizontally and Vertically. The Municipal Green Purchasing Group, launched and facilitated by the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI), serves as a clearing-house for local authorities within the European Green Purchasing Network. Membership of the European Green Purchasing Network is open to all organisations that procure goods and services.
