ABSTRACT

This part introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters. The part provides examples of how fund managers have sought to identify and/or better analyse see issues and, thereby, directly enhance investment analysis. It describes how two fund managers, Morley Fund Management and Insight Investment respectively, explicitly analyse corporate responsibility issues as an integral part of their investment processes. The part discusses the practicalities of analysing the financial or business implications of see issues. It focuses on the financial implications of HIV/AIDS for mining companies in South Africa. The part describes a collaborative project between fund managers and sell-side analysts to identify the material see issues for a range of sectors, focusing on how these issues can impact on short-term and long-term drivers of investment value. It describes Innovest's approach to investment and their view that focusing on key sustainability drivers and the quality of management.
