ABSTRACT

Observing reader's reactions to and thoughts about their situation nonjudgmentally with self-compassion is the third core practice of Presencing. Observing reader's perceptions and thoughts with honesty and clarity is especially important given the acute and chronic adversities climate disruption is already producing and will increasingly generate. The ABC Thought and Emotion Record is a tool that can be used to learn if and how reader's internal beliefs and self-talk might skew their reactions to the external events experience. Through ABC model one can easily end up with numerous Thinking Distortions. Thinking Distortions lead to erroneous judgments and flawed conclusions. Thinking Distortions consequently lead to mental and physical health problems, and can generate destructive psychosocial behaviors such as aggression, crime, and violence as well. It is possible to use the ABC Thought and Emotion Record on a regular basis to notice and correct Thinking Distortions. Betty worked for a philanthropic foundation that funded organizations working to reduce climate disruption.
