ABSTRACT

One of the main terms used for responsible business is corporate social responsibility (CSR). In spite of the often confusing use of vocabulary, business practitioners and scholars agree on one point: social and environmental business performance is a mainstream business megatrend, whether it is called responsible business, CSR, corporate citizenship, philanthropy, or business sustainability. Responsible business, instead describes businesses that have made a commitment and implemented activities to reach the goal of sustainable business. Responsibility means a commitment to achieving the status of a sustainable business and the ultimate responsibility of achieving sustainable development. Responsible management refers to the management processes, tools, and activities necessary to achieve the goal of sustainable business. This conceptualization of responsible and sustainable business, at first glance, might sound different than the traditionally established definitions. A wide variety of theoretical and practice-oriented management frameworks have been developed to describe the management of responsible business.
