ABSTRACT

Denmark has also over the past 50 years cultivated a welfare model characterized by stable labour relations, reforms in working life, and an extensive social welfare system with full employment as an absolute objective. Even though Denmark is ranked by the International Monetary Fund among the ten wealthiest nations in the world, the Danish welfare model is under severe pressure. A demographic change over the coming decades with fewer young people and an increase of elderly not only means an increasing scarcity of labour force. The green side of sustainable enterprise is fuelled by government-driven initiatives such as a business incubator for eco-entrepreneurs, a green transition fund, funding of green citizen-driven initiatives and an official "State of Green" brand for leading players within energy, climate, water and the environment. National action plans, guidelines, codes and tools have been developed around both national legislation and international declarations and principles for human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption.
