ABSTRACT

Business school programmes around the world are surprisingly similar in the way they operate as well as what they teach. They are also all affected by a larger system that often does more to reinforce the status quo than to support and encourage change. In the future, business school rankings will be generated based on very different, more relevant, measures. For example, rankings could be based on the value that a particular business school provides to society. The system is heavily weighted towards training doctoral students to publish rather than towards developing their teaching skills. Accreditation will strengthen the incentives and resources to enable changes to happen based on the needs of business, students, society and the schools themselves. Recruiters will be actively engaged in the business schools of the future beyond just company presentation and recruiting.
