ABSTRACT

Many business students, joined by increasing numbers of experienced professionals, hope to devote their education and careers to what is often called “green business.” The nature of their work has changed, from a career in which they earn a living to a vocation in which they express a set of deeply personal values in pursuit of goals far greater than themselves. Chances are that, if people are genuinely open to the possibilities of a calling, they will find that satisfaction will come from some place far different from where people expected to find it. Many start their education with aspirations to eschew big salaries and work to pursue social good no matter their income. College simply costs too much money, and they amass such large debt loads that they find themselves measuring their education in terms of return on investment.
