ABSTRACT

Isaac Newton's Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica put forth the laws of motion and universal gravitation, which provided the foundation on which the understanding of physics has been based for 300 years. He introduced the foundation for classical mechanics. While there have been many books written about the Renaissance and all the changes that took place during this 300-year period, there is one aspect of this time that is really important because it established some of the foundational assumptions upon which today's business practices are based. Newtonian physics has provided the direction and framework upon which science has evolved. As Europe was coming out of the Dark and Middle Ages, trade began to increase. First trade was confined to the region but as travel became easier and states continued to search for more revenues, expanding the reach of their trading activities was one of the simplest solutions.
