ABSTRACT

A core aspect that make the collaboratory different from any other co-creative approach is its deliberate and courageous concentration on the group consciousness and the visionary power that lies therein. As long as we take a problem-based approach, we limit our creative power to the same thinking we had when we created the problem. New solutions require new spaces for thought. Otto Scharmer’s Theory U provides a concrete way to move a conversation to a space where the group connect into the future and drive home solutions that emerge from a different, future reality. Chapter 15 (at the University of St. Gallen) shows a beautiful application of how this can concretely work.
