ABSTRACT

Institutions of higher education are in a position to influence societal change related to gender equality in the workplace by preparing students to enter the workforce ready to challenge and eliminate inequalities. A goal of Bentley University is to graduate champions of change in the workplace and society at large so that its students are prepared to deal with the realities of the workplace and equipped to promote gender equality. Like many co-education institutions of higher education that attract students from across the globe, Bentley's students have a wide range of gender equality knowledge, experiences and levels of interest in the issue. In theory, Bentley's approach should work. The Center at Bentley hosts Best Practices Forums and Peer Exchanges, which are directed at company executives, managers and other business professionals, including working graduate students. Funding, faculty and staff enthusiasm and student engagement are issues that the Center is continuously monitoring and mitigating.
