ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on legal education where, on first impression, it seems as if gender gaps have disappeared. It aims to shift the perspective and invites the reader to evaluate this evolution through a more strategic lens. The chapter provides tools and mechanisms that may help students, especially women, to recognize and seize opportunities in graduate schools and beyond. It analyses the landscape provided by legal education. The discussion of gender gaps has evolved around the world and the theme of gender inequality is much more prominent on numerous policy agendas. The chapter raises the question of why this gender gap still exists even if the pipeline seems to provide sufficient numbers of talented women with the potential to rise to leadership positions in legal education and in the legal profession. In the last half of the twentieth century, women's access to education has grown and the very nature of available employment has given women more opportunities.
